An established, RCVS-accredited small animal practice in Perth, Perthshire is looking for a Clinical Director to join their team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced small animal vet who is ready to take on management responsibilities alongside clinical work. You will oversee clinical standards, support and develop colleagues, and help shape the strategic direction of the practice, while remaining actively involved in day-to-day veterinary work. The working pattern averages 29 hours per week on day shifts after TOIL, with a 1 in 5 OOH rota. A day off follows any weeknight on-call, and a long weekend follows any weekend on-call. Nurses are onsite 24/7 for emergency support, triage, and inpatient care.
This is a purpose-built, RCVS-accredited small animal practice with a strong reputation for patient care and a collaborative working environment. The team includes experienced vets and a highly capable nursing team who work closely together and take clinical standards seriously. The practice is well equipped with six consulting rooms, an imaging suite, a dedicated dental suite with dental X-ray, two theatres, an endoscope, multiparameter anaesthetic monitoring, a full in-house laboratory covering bloods, urinalysis and cytology, and visiting specialists in orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery. The diary is well managed, with 15-minute standard appointments, longer slots for complex cases, dedicated daily catch-up time, and protected emergency slots. The practice is based in Perthshire, which was recently voted one of the top five places to live in the UK.
In Your First Month: You will get to know the team, understand how the practice currently operates, and begin building the relationships that will underpin your leadership.
By Month Three: You will have established your presence as Clinical Director, with a clear view of where you want to take the practice clinically and operationally.
By Month Six: You will be leading the clinical team with confidence, shaping standards, supporting development, and contributing to the long-term direction of the practice.
If you are an experienced small animal vet ready to step into a Clinical Director role in a well-resourced, supportive practice in one of the UK's most desirable locations, we would be glad to have a confidential conversation.
